DO NOT read this book UNTIL you've read Unleashed and Untouched! I have NO idea why the author labeled this "Book 0", as it contains a spoiler about Untouched. This book should have been labeled "Book 2.5"! Otherwise, it's a good series, at least till you get to Unclaimed, which I'll address in my criticism of Unclaimed. Beware, Unbound is NOT a "Book 0" either, it should be "Book 5.5" as it, too, contains a spoiler for Unclaimed. The correct reading order for this series should be 1. Unleashed, 2. Untouched, 2.5. Undenied, 3. Untamed, 4. Undone, 5. Unclaimed, 5.5 Unbound.

This is the first of this series that I have read, so it likely was not the best introduction for me. As an Novella, it was shirt and to the point. I would say that in terms of a Novella it was extremely short, so much so that I felt forced through the story.

One thing I really had a difficult time accepting in this story was her quick acceptance of him being a massive shape shifting Tiger. I mean there was NO fear whatsoever. While I understand that was (attempted) to be explained by her dreams of him for years, but really, who in their right mind would accept something like that immediately and jump into the sack with said shape shifter. It simply heals no reality for me at all.

The entire story simply felt forced from beginning to end. Said woman meets Tiger, meets enemy of Tiger, sees fight,flees with Tiger, has sex with Tiger man two seconds after massive fight while he's still injured, and Tiger performs life-bonding mating ritual with a few words. It was all completely unbelievable from start to finish.

On top of all of that, the story was ended atrociously. After all I explained above, he says that her & their children could always be hunted, possibly killed, and her response is 'I've always been a nomad, I won't have anyone chaste me away, let's go home.' End of story. What?! There wasn't even any closure brought to the Bear who disappeared after trying to kill him, rape and then kill her!

Like I said earlier, this is the first I have read in this series, so I have no idea if this is "normal" for the way she handles her characters, but I can say that it certainly does not make me want to run and purchase another of the series.

That said, I would recommend to anyone new to the series to not start here, for if you do I think you will likely be left as I am. Either way, enjoy! )
THis is a short but extremely good read only available by e-book I believe, well worth the price. It fills in a small bit about characters appearing in the 2nd full length novel. I have the original five novels in print, and/ have just read all of/ them, so this is a fresh, current review of the SERIES for anyone who might be looking to pre-order the new book coming out. An unsolicited review, at that, and let me say I was SO EXCITED to see that new book available on !
OK. The Amoveo are an ancient race of shapeshifters, look human, but they can become animals, one of/ 12 animal clans. Because humans can't be trusted, in general, the Amoveo keep quiet living alongside. They have traditions, of course, and part of their racial process requires connecting with their ONE FATED MATE in the Dream realm prior to actually meeting.. and if an Amoveo goes through the process as they should, they become more powerful as they get older, and they can live a very long time. They have visualization powers which allow them to instantly transport themselves, manipulate objects, matter, energy, etc., the possibilities increase with the individuals age and power.
If, however, Amoveo fails to connect with the one individual the universe has chosen for him or her by the time they reach the age of 30, they lose their powers, An no longer shift, and must live out the rest of their days like a human, slowly dying. Each novel and story deals with one of these situations; an Amoveo nearing that age, and the difficulties that have when they find their MATE. In the first novel, UNLEASHED, Samantha is having dreams and moves back home with her grandmother, only to find out that she is FATED to be with Malcolm. Sam has just did herself of a possessive, controlling jerk, she doesn't want to be told her fate by a guy she just met, even if he is the most beautiful man she's ever met. The story goes on to tell how the two get through the hazards of new magnetic attraction mixed with the Amoveo and the enemies stalking them, who will kill Sam to prevent the mating, if they can. I don't want to throw any big spoilers in, so I will simply say that while it's evident here that I am not able to write eloquently, Ms Humphrey's words flow with a mesmerizing intensity which makes her books very hard to put down. I am also a horrible and slow typist, so I hardly ever do reviews, which should be another big clue about how much I enjoyed this series.
The second book in the series, UNTOUCHED, follows Samantha's neighbor and best friend, gorgeous model Kerry, who can't stand to be touched. She covers it by having a reputation as a birch with a germ phobia, when the real truth is she gets psychic impressions so strongly they make her ill. Mostly because they are usually of the bad things people think and do. The exception has always been Samantha, who she could touch without pain, and now Malcolm's friend Dante, who has been hired to protect her after she was involved in the attacks on Sam. When Kerry touches Dante, she only sees his FOX, and feels fabulous, soothed.....she is no more happy than Sam was to be told about fate deciding her future, but after a few rounds and then some, it works out. A lot of the book is set in New Orleans, where we meet the Tiger shifter BORIS, who owns a bar there, and the photographer LAYLA, who is doing Kerry's fashion shoot. We also meet ex-cop PETE, a human who works for Dante, as Driver this trip, sometimes other things.
UNDENIED is, a novella, properly placed at 2.5, about, I think, as it takes place in New Orleans after the infamous fashion shoot, but not terribly long after, it seems. We had met BORIS and his twin sister in the last book, in which the sister died. In this sweet story we meet Lillian, a psychic Palm reader who has a tiger tattoo across her lower back, and dreams of tigers also. She is, of course, Boris' MATE. Very well told, for/ such a short story. While this or any of the books are strong enough to stand alone, I believe they are best read in chronological order, as there are story elements that make more sense that way.
Book #3 UNTAMED is Layla and William's story.
Book#4 UNDONE tells us what happens when PETE is hired to protect Dante's twin sister Marianna, who is a grizzly bear shifter and die-hard party girl, and the sparks sizzle and fly right off the pages when these two get together ! REALLY interesting plot twists.... I read a LOT and it isn't easy to surprise me. Bad guys still abound, of course.
Book#5 UNCLAIMED is about Layla' s sister Tatiana, who is a veterinarian, and what happens when she goes to the Prince of the Amoveo's ranch to help with sick horses, and meets Dominic, one of the Guardians of the ranch, and, of course, her MATE. She really hates the whole FATED MATE thing, wants to determine her own destiny, that's why she's been HIDING from him in the Dream realm. And there are still enemies
It's been a while since I picked up a Sara Humphreys book and I have no idea why since I've enjoyed her writing in the past. I have not read any from her Amoveo shapeshifters series so this short story was a nice taste of that series.

I got the picture quickly that I had accidentally picked up a tweeny short story, but that did not hinder me from appreciating this story. Lillian and Boris' story stood alone just fine against the backdrop of the ongoing series arc.

I enjoyed the story, but it did rush matters about half-way once the fated mates bit kicked into hyper-drive. I gave it a pass on this since they had been connected in their dreams for years before they actually met.

So, it was fast paced with action and passion, but the premise of the series is definitely one I'll want to come back to and finish all the stories and books.
