My children loved this book 30 years ago, and i remember them learning the word "soporific" from the story. Now, these beautifully illustrated Beatrix Potter books are gifts for my grandchildren, who love them. I saved all of my own children's B. Potter books, so I have a set at my home, and the grandchildren have them at their homes. We read them every time they come over. Wonderful children's literature!

sadly the illustrations inside the book are greytone/black & white. Flat, boring and some indistinguishable. One is just a drawing of a plant. Very disappointing as there is no mention of the lack of color illustrations. Will try to return
very cute. I especially like the illustration of Peter rabbit and his wife hiding the lettuces from Benjamin and Flopsy and their children. (did I mix those two up? peter and ben? meh). Anyways.. it's cute and we like it as we pretty much like all Beatrix Potter books )
Excellent classic tale - bought four books and four coordinating stuffed animals as a baby gift for the young folks next door. Everything is lovely and nice quality.

The books are small, but they are the exact same size books I had as a child and there was never an issue. I think the small size was part of why I liked them so much.
Classic kids book! A must read for all children. Quick read for parents and a cute story. These were my first books as a child and I still enjoy reading them to my own children.
Beatrix Potter's way with the English language is like no other children's author. Her words paint a beautiful picture, but, this version inserts "[Illustration]" where each of her beautiful drawings would normally be.

It's great if you don't mind missing the drawings and just want to work on vocabulary with your kids, but I agree with the previous review-buy the books too.
